Climate negotiations are taking place under the UN Climate Convention and its Kyoto Protocol.

  • Mitigation targets for developed countries commencing in 2012
  • Parties are also discussing “other issues” including:
    • Land-use, land-use change and forestry
    • Emissions trading and the project-based mechanisms (i.e. CDM and JI)
    • Metrics for measuring greenhouse gas emissions and removals
    • Impact of response measures

Parties agreed to these two parallel tracks of negotiations as part of the “Bali Roadmap”, which was agreed at the December 2007 UN Climate Conference in Bali, Indonesia.
