With the “Rio+20” United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development kicking off today the Third World Network and the South Centre released their ‘briefs’ or ‘updates’ that cover the key issues and are quick read to get you up to date with the biggest international conference happening in 2012.

Both analyses highlight the importance of the ‘Rio Principles’ to sustainable development, showing that links to the UNFCCC, which was created at the original Rio Conference, are clear and that a repudiation of Rio Principles in the Rio+20 outcome document would be a step back for the entire international partnership on sustainable development, including on climate change.
